Treasures

I'm going to try and write this post before the babies get up.  My babies. *sighs*  Last week William informed me that he wasn't a baby.  He was "Willem", and pointed proudly to his chest.  Madeleine quickly followed suit.  No longer my babies.  *sobs*  When did this happen?  When did they become so big that they couldn't fit into my snuggly Baby title?

Last month we took advantage of every morning we could to get to the beaches.  No matter the chill in the ocean water, we got down on our hands and knees and made sand castles, dug moats, did hand-stands in the moats (well, M did), collected seaweed, found crab shells, and ambled over rocks and dunes.  I love this island.  I love it with all my heart.  I'm a forager by nature, brought up by a woman who knew all the flowers, weeds, seeds, and trees.  So, coming to Aquidneck Island, and discovering a whole new world of natural treasures, has been thrilling!  Scallop shells, Slipper shells, drift wood, sea glass, mermaid scales (my name for those pearly pieces) and ribbon seaweed.  Heaven!  I'm in heaven.  Of course, I hardly know what to do with my trove.  But, I'm working on that.

The farmers market off Memorial Boulevard was open till the end of October.  We met up with some of our friends one Wednesday evening, ordered wood-fired pizzas and lemonade, and walked over to the Library Park.  Pizza and parks!  I'm sure those are some of Madeleine's favorite "P" words.

Tomorrow I'm doing my first craft fair in over a year.  I'll be down at the Elks Lodge in Newport--situated by their fire place--selling paper goodies of all different sorts.  I'll try and take pictures!

XO,
Julia

I am so jealous! It is arctic winter around here already! My mornings consist of knocking thick sheets of ice out of the water buckets! So glad you're having a great time on the island! xox
