Hellebore

Hellebore.  I had never seen or heard of this spring beauty before I came to Chestnut Hill.  But, right after the Snowdrops in March, the Hellebore come to life.  Usually in clumps, in the shaded bits of the garden, and usually in fantastic earthy tones of green, cream, pink, and dark purple.  I love the brilliant yellow and pinks of spring--tulips, daffodils, and cherry blossoms--their brightness can't help but lift the spirits.  But, there's something special about subtle beauty.  The kind that takes a second glance to see the incredible intricacies and strength of the flower.

I'm in the middle of a dozen art projects, most of them related to Red Otter Creative and business-growing activities.  All the while tending to two sick babes in a Spring that won't get it's act together.  I'm trying to be generous with myself.  It's okay that I can't see my kitchen table/studio desk, or the fact that there's a perpetual state of laundry to be done, or that a manically-mobile Madeleine is discovering every dirty corner of our apartment.  With her hands.  And then her mouth.

*sighs*

Just keep swimming.
Just keep swimming.
Just keep swimming.

XOXO,
Julia

Hellebore - sounds like something a witch would toss in her cauldron . . . I've heard of that plant before, but I've never seen images of it. It sounds (and looks) pretty. Just keep moving forward - it doesn't matter if your house is a mess. The kids will heal, M will stop wanting to stick everything in her mouth and you'll have a thriving family and creative business.

i also love hellebores, especially when they're planted at eye level. they seem to be such a shy plant requiring one to get down to their level, which makes me feel old. keep swimming, the water is fine even if it is a bit cold at first. xo
