Simple Pleasures

I've always been enchanted with the idea of collecting simple pleasures (think Amelie). Instead of the typical vices you cultivate delight in the simple things. Here's my budding list:

1. Taking off my sandals and feeling the cool freshness of summer grass
2. Writing with a dip pen--I like the sound of the scratch on paper, so satisfying
3. Making a small batch of chocolate chip cookies because I get to eat the dough

What's on your list this morning?

Images found here and here, thank you flickr

feeling the cool freshness of grass is one of my favorites too! I also love the warm feeling of winter sun in my face when I'm cozy in my deck chair!

I have been enjoying taking a few minutes each day to practice picture taking. If something catches my eye I just stop whatever I am doing and snap away. I might need to bake some cookies too!!

My simple pleasure was walking across the Mass Ave bridge on a beautiful June morning with a stunning view of the city! Such a wonderful way to commute!

mine are - your cookie one, being able to cook a meal from scratch, and spending time doing it, having time to read a whole book in one sitting, wearing woolly scarves in winter.

I with you on the simple pleasures. I get so much excitement and satisfaction from a great thrift store find that I certainly don't feel when I purchase something from, say, IKEA. I love that pic, so fresh and interesting!

Almost every time I go outside to the backyard, I shun my shoes aside to feel the grass. And, when I was planting all my flowers and herbs and veggies, I liked to garden barefoot. I needed to hose my feet of every time, but there's just something I love about getting really dirty when I'm in the dirt. I've been wanting to bake, too, so maybe that will be on my list today. It's so ucky out, I could really use some warmth!

Thanks for the inspiration, my friend :)

One more thing: whenever I pass the dining room table I can smell the peonies I picked. Heaven.

Adore your list, Julia! Today it was the first cup of morning coffee, letters in the post from long lost friends, and bright, warm Spring sunshine flooding into the living room . . .

I always have so many things on my list...I just put one together too and the smell of freshly cut grass was on it...also, hearing the kiddies play in the park next door to my building, warm baguettes, the sound of windchimes...so much...
:)

Oh, I love this game and play it quite frequently. Let's see, today it's: the sound of fog horns, making (and eating) soup from scratch, and the flicker of a pretty candle. (Can you tell it's cold here today?)

i love your list, especially the grass. my list today was simple, take pictures, sneeze, take a shower, sneeze some more - in that order. sending you another hug!
