Avoca
While studying abroad in England I took a trip to Dublin, Ireland, with some girlfriends. We visited at the tail end of our Christmas holiday, so Dublin was still dressed for the season's festivities. I remember walking through winding cobbled streets decked in garlands and lights. We found this beautiful shop called Avoca in our attempt to find the Information Center (they aren't as easy to find as you would hope, by the way). It was piled high with brightly colored plaid throws, stylish frocks, candles, banners, stationary and yummy packaged mixes. An Irish stimulation overload, otherwise known as heaven! They have a gorgeous website, you've gotta check it out!
By the way, after soaking up the goodness at Avoca, my girlfriends and I crossed the street to a cafe that served lattes in simple white cups with matching saucers. They made little hearts out the foam. We were in love!
PS. I know it's bad to add something to an already posted post, but I had to add this little diddy! Thank you so much! :) Come see here!

I love Ireland...went there several years ago on St. Paddy's day. Sigh...I want to go back and discover this amazing shop too!
I remember calling my parents from Dublin just as I arrived off the plane. Mind you it was 3am their time didn't care oen bit as I just HAD to tell them I found teh place I have dreamed up living-it was a reality! I loved it so much and had to scream it out! What a magic place. If only I lived there now :)
I can't wait to check out that store now. Thanks
Oh so jealous! I wish I could get whisked away to Dublin for some shopping and lattes.
So pretty! I would LOVE to go to back to England and take a trip to Ireland. I was in the UK about four years ago for New Years. Sigh.

aw, what a darling story and a beautiful store. i love memories like those :)
that reminds me when i visited you in ireland, we also sipped from cups with heart-shaped foam! and also speaking of ireland, i just picked up knitting needles for the first time in a decade... i am refreshing my skills by learning the simple "farrow rib" (so far, so good)... i am hoping it won't be too long before I can start knitting aran-type scarves and clothing, using some wonderful alpaca yarn! it has been "heaps" of fun delving into the world of blogs and Etsy and seeing all the fabulous ways people show their creativity. hugs & smootchies!
Oh such lovely colors! I need to bring more color into my life. I wear tons of black and everything in my apartment is brown or white! :)
when you say gorgeous you really mean it..holy camoly! (and your journals are beautiful julia!!! nice work lady!
