Summer

Summer is:
summer berries on homemade shortcake
swimming in Walloon by Pancake Bay with my sisters
long walks at dusk, when everything gets quiet in our neighborhood
crisp white wine, chilled
warm kisses from Andrew
light and airy summer dresses and strappy heels
Sabrina, Disney's Robin Hood, Breakfast at Tiffanys
splurge beach books
corn on the cob with butter dripping

What is summer to you?

they all look delicious! And I have a glass of crisp white wine here with me now too. Summer is the smell of grass, the heat of the sun on your face, strawberries...
: )

Lightning bugs, the chorus of cicadas by moonlight, ice cold watermelon (with seeds, because seedless just aren't the same), sweet tea (the table wine of the South), dinners on the veranda or the wrap-around porch (unfortunately neither of which I have), Fridays off for weekend road trips, putting clean sheets in the freezer before making the bed because it's been one of those oppressively hot days . . .

And concerts in an amphitheatre venue! The show was great last night, and I'll be posting about it sometime tonight.

Torture! Torture! Torture! I could dive into that lemon meringue right about now. *Sigh*

Summer is watching the pears ripening in the neighbor's backyard against a forget-me-not blue sky from the comfort of my couch, while reading a book in the bright late afternoon sunshine. Summer is naps with the cats, just in from sunning their tummies, warm and purring fur. Summer is an array of delicious fruits and veggies from the local Farmers' Market, matinee movies, and lots of fresh grand marnier gelato from the shop down the street. Mmmm ... Gelatohhh.

yum, those look so good!

summer for me: ripe strawberries, fireflies, hair brushing my shoulders, flip flops, the smell of sun tan lotion, lemonade stands, sprinklers and grass stuck to your feet, sand castles, thunderstorms, crickets, baseball games, and popsicle-red tongues. :-)

Those pies were not made by humans.

Summer is dining at an outdoor cafe, the smell of wet dirt from last night's rain as the morning sun heats up, nasturtiums on salad, waiting in line for a coke float at the burger stand, cold wine and citronella candles on a blanket at a nighttime concert in the park.

Wow, I like my answer, I think I might have to go blog it and link back to you! And your pies.

Oh these pies look so GOOD! I'm salivating! haha!

My summers are full of swinging on the porch swing, reading books, going on trips, laying in the sun, and painting in the shade! :)

Are you kidding me?! Those pies are so beautiful and all I want to eat. I love your summer list. Between yours and Robins I have nothing to add so I'll just say ditto. Thanks for the daydream.

Look at all those tasty treats! I just had a slice of cheesecake tonight! Mmmm!

Summertime is definitely beaches for us, but unfortunately, we're in the midwest now and not on the east coast anymore. It's just not the same. At least we can still take walks in the sun, we'll always have that.
