A retreat

I've been feeling the need to chill. Anyone looking at my schedule this past month would laugh. "No kidding" they would say. A move to a new apartment, two trips to Kansas City, and a trip to Petoskey. Yeah, the need is dire. Ever feel like you start missing things when you don't have a proper stretch of down time? I become fractious, like a little child who's missed her nap. This coming weekend I have two whole days free--free of obligations, responsibilities and trips! I can't tell you how good it feels. I was wandering through Body and Soul and discovered this section on how to boost one's happiness. It had great suggestions, one of them being to make sure you have a spot you are able to retreat to in your home. I don't have a lot of space right now, so I'm making due and trying to create an inviting space in my bedroom. I picked up a beautiful throw and de-cluttered my bedroom floor. I've re-arranged it so it "feels" better when you walk in. I'm so excited, I'm going to make a pot of tea this weekend, loaded with whipped honey from Petoskey, gather up all my pillows and camp out for an hour or two in my bedroom reading my new book(s)!

I would say you are in need! I can relate, if I don't have downtime I sort-of freak out. Hope you enjoy your weekend!

I can tell you the only thing that is on the floor of my bedroom is the bed. I use floating shelfs for night stands, and nothing else besides serene artwork. It's a nice escape! In our last apartment, the bedroom was the catch-all. That was NOT good!

OH yes, we all need a little time to ourselves to relax. Sounds like you are heading in a great direction. Your time off sounds wonderful - relax and rejuvenate.

I'm there with you! While I've taken a few days off here and there in the midst of my recent craziness, I always have something that needs to be done and I do feel overwhelmed at times. I haven't allowed myself to just do nothing, like lay in bed and read, for quite some time and I miss those little respites.

My bedroom is definitely my retreat, and the floor houses quite a few stacks of books. A lot I've read, a lot I haven't, but they're all waiting for those moments when I can give them some attention.

Enjoy your weekend, Jewels!

Definitely your room should be a retreat! I've tried to keep mine simple & not overdone so that I can always go in there to relax & let go of things!

I love these kind of projects! Everyone needs a retreat like space. When you are all done you should keep fresh lavender by your bed. It always puts me in a spa mood:)

relax dear Julia...I suddenly feel the need to declutter my sad less-than-tranquil bedroom.

Thank you for the sweet comment on my 2-home dilemma post...

I'd love to grab a book off that shelf and crawl into #1. Or, I'd be happy to lie down and contemplate the light in #3, pre-nap.

Sigh.

So lovely :)

Said so well. I can totally visualize your sweet little retreat and *love* the idea. What wonderful inspiration you've provided.

Those back-to-back road trips can really take a toll! And moving on top of that? Wowza! I'm hoping by now you've been rewarded with the fruits of your labor and are feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
