Friday Favorites

one: Ranunculus by ClaudiaKayPhoto
two: The Alice Clutch from littleellie
three: Thick Knitted Baby Blanket from Rocketandbear
four: Girl and Umbrella by Cabin

A couple of things before we head out for a weekend in Minnesota:
1. I promise to be a better blogger friend next week--this past week I was complete rubbish, I'm sorry about that. I had the greatest intentions... *sighs*
2. Figured out how to make William dance--drinking a glass of cold, cold apple juice. I've never seen such wiggles. Yes, "seen" is right. I feel like I've an alien in there.
3. Big news: I'm reopening my Red Otter shop April 5th--and it's going to be chalk full with delicious goodies, new designs, and unique creations. I'm so excited, I've been scheming about these designs for a while (a good four months to be exact). I can't wait to show you!

I think that's it! Have a fabulous weekend, all!

Love and hugs,

Botanical Garden

It was a rainy, dreary Saturday--a perfect day to visit Madison's botanical garden with my parents. Just walking into the delicious humidity was reviving. I loved the fresh smell, all the green, and the bright songs of the canaries flitting all over the place.

PS. I hope to catch up with you all very, very soon, I've been missing your blogs!

Magic cleaning trick: baskets from Micheal's (which were nearly half off--wahoo!). Just re-shuffle and relocate the stuffs (i.e. books, papers, magazines, crocheting, box of orange cookies) that have overwhelmed every horizontal surface of your apartment into these nifty woven gems and voila! A clean apartment!

Sounds of spring

This morning I woke up to the pattering of rain drops against my window. Never was there such a lovely sound. After months and months of silent snow, I'm eager for the sounds of spring.

Spring colors

It's warming up--finally! And our little apartment was filled with spring colors this weekend--lots of little projects and happenings to share with you. Andrew bought me my first sewing machine last weekend and I spent a good bit of time "figuring it out" and cooing over my new fabric on Saturday. I made cherry scones in our muffin tin because I couldn't be bothered to clean off the baking sheet. And I branched out from the granny square and tried my hand at a little beanie! It's amazing when a project actually looks recognizable in the end, instead of a haphazard ball of knots.

Now it's time to settle in for a full week of mid-terms and study questions--yuck. Spring is a tortuous time of year to be in school, it really is.

XOXO,
Jewels

Four in the morning

The clock in the corner of my screen tells me that it's nearly 4 in the morning. I should be in bed, cuddled up with my maternity pillow and having weird pregnancy dreams. But, I'm not. After an hour of tossing and turning, which, by the way, happens in slow motion and looks more like a beached whale doing barrel rolls, I decided to get up. Part of this is normal pregnancy--the sleeplessness--but the other part is fidgety creativity. It's been months since I was able to sink my teeth into a project. And now that life seems mostly even keel, god bless Zantac, I feel like I finally have the energy to take something on. Of course, with months of letting my creativity simmer under the surface and reading new, beautiful blogs, I'm confronted with not just one, but at least four or five new, fun, exciting, thrilling, keep-me-up-at-night projects--none of them brilliant, mind you--but the desire to start something is there. And it's fierce! Here's what I've been following lately:

Good weekend

My rosebud teapot, full of decaf English Breakfast, milk and honey. My granny square that continues to grow, row by row. And my book making tools, back from a three month hiatus!

Overall, a very good weekend! How was yours?
