Will wonders never cease?

It's a good morning, even with the clouds and dirty snow, it's a good morning. I feel chipper, I have a long list of things to do, and some ginger tea, from Krissy, to keep my tummy happy! Here are some scrumptious photos for us to start off the week with.

Over the weekend Andrew's laptop died. Over the weekend I heard the impossible, "what do you think about me buying a Mac?" Over the weekend, Andrew became convinced that his next computer had to be a Mac and bought one. Will wonders never cease? As a graphic designer my loyalties have been and always will be with Mac computers, but that doesn't mean my husband shared the same feelings. For years I've dealt with his pestering and crowing about PCs superiority only to watch two of his PC laptops die, unceremoniously. Anyways, the new Mac should arrive sometime this week--in the meantime, I'm lending him my laptop. So, I'll be "away" this week!

Sending you much love,
Jewels

Some colors are comfort colors for me. Pale pink, soft peaches, cream all seem to soothe marvelously. Do you have a comfort palette?

Thank you all for the kindness and understanding in regards to my last post. I got all soggy when I read your comments last night.

The gift of time

Last semester, when it became obvious that I was going to be dealing with not just morning sickness, but all day sickness, Andrew and I decided to reconsider what I was going to take on spring semester. Also around this time, I decided to close my Red Otter shop--for many, many good reasons, but one of them was the stress--it was too much on top of everything else. So, now, as I move into this new semester, I'm looking at a lighter credit load, no high-maintenance customers and a bit more free time on my hands. I have to admit, I've always been one who needs to be productive, needs to be active, need to be doing stuff (this is what we are trained to do, right?), then suddenly being gifted with time, glorious, unencumbered time, is unnerving. I have taken great pride in the fact that I'm constantly doing things, creating, reading, going to classes, doing housework, regularly burning both ends of the candle, so to speak. But, pregnancy hasn't allowed me to do that. I'm sick. A lot. And nothing zaps your energy than feeling perpetually green around the edges. So, I'm learning to embrace this gift of time. It's hard, but I think I, along with my little family, will benefit from it.

My list of things to do today is growing by the minute. I love lists--they make me incredibly, ridiculously happy! And unlike yesterday, I'm actually going to cross something off my list today. Well, I did make scones yesterday, I guess that's something! I hope you enjoy the day, however you spend it!

Green dahlias

Here are two of my mini arrangements from yesterday's trip out and about. I love bringing a bouquet home and pulling it apart to make smaller, more intimate arrangements. This allows us to have fresh flowers in almost every room of the apartment! I picked this bouquet for the green dahlias--aren't they fantastic?

A boost

I don't want to simply survive the winter months. I want to see if I can find little beauties, simple pleasures, that are unique to the season. Take the winter light, for instance. The brightness of it is arresting. Combine the light with a fresh clutch of flowers and it's a little boost for the day or week!

Soul time

Recovery from our epic holiday traveling (nearly two weeks) took a bit longer than originally anticipated--sorry for the long absence! We returned on the 4th, weary to the bone. I think it took us a week to unpack our last box, bag and duffel.

In the past, New Years were monumental introspective times for me--times to reflect, reorganize and re-inspire. Alas, I spent most of the holiday week warding off a migraine, but, better late than never. This morning I'm gathering up my journal, my favorite blue pen and heading to my coffee shop for some soul time.
